Weekend Road Closures for Friday, May 17th Through Sunday, May 19, 2024

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation (BCDOT) would like to advise motorists of the temporary road closures and traffic modifications for the following activities this weekend.  Please download the Waze.com app for live detour navigation.  All activities are weather permitting and BCDOT is not responsible for providing status updates.
 

Traffic Modifications for Baltimore Orioles Weekend Home Games

This weekend, temporary road closures and parking restrictions will be implemented for the Baltimore Orioles home games against the Seattle Mariners at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. 

Motorists should be advised that all parking restrictions and residential permit parking regulations will be strictly enforced in the vicinity of the stadium.  Patrons who do not have a parking permit for any of the stadium lots are strongly encouraged to use public transportation.  Increased traffic delays should be expected due to the Key Bridge closure.  With a variety of transit options including the Metro Subway, Light Rail, Local Bus, and the Charm City Circulator, fans can easily use mass transit from numerous locations in and around Baltimore. 

Baseball fans that drive to the game should utilize commercial parking facilities north of the stadium and avoid parking in area neighborhoods.  Transportation Enforcement Officers will enforce posted parking restrictions and residential permit parking regulations in the vicinity of the stadium.  Vehicles parked in violation will be ticketed and towed.  Motorists with questions concerning the location of their vehicles should call 311. 

In preparation for the games, the following streets will be closed on Friday, May 17, 2024, starting at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, May 18th starting at 1:00 p.m., and Sunday, May 19th starting at 10:30 a.m. (times approximate) with detours in effect: 

  • Eutaw Street from Pratt to Camden Streets
  • Camden Street from Howard to Russell Streets
  • Hamburg Street from Russell to Leadenhall Streets

In addition, the following parking restrictions will be implemented on Friday, May 17th, Saturday, May 18th and Sunday, May 19, 2024, in the vicinity of the stadium: 

  • East side of Eutaw Street from Pratt to Lombard Streets
  • North side of Conway Street from Charles to Sharp Streets
  • East side of Greene Street from Lombard Street to Washington Boulevard
  • North side of Pratt Street from Greene Street to Paca Street

Transportation Enforcement Officers will be stationed at key intersections to assist with the movement of traffic in the downtown area.  Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for pedestrians, especially when approaching designated crosswalks. 

 

Traffic Modifications for the Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Course

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists of the traffic modifications that will be implemented for the 149th running of the Preakness Stakes which will take place on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Pimlico Race Course.  

In preparation for the event, the following road closures and special traffic patterns will be implemented (times approximate):

Friday, May 17, 2024, starting at 5:00 a.m. until Sunday, May 19, 2024, at 1:00 a.m.

  • Rogers Avenue – Closed from Winner Avenue to W. Northern Parkway
  • Bland Avenue – Closed from W. Northern Parkway to Rogers Avenue
  • Key Avenue – Closed from W. Northern Parkway to Rogers Avenue
  • Woodcrest Avenue – Closed from W. Northern Parkway to Rogers Avenue
  • Merville Avenue – Closed from W. Northern Parkway to Rogers Avenue
  • Stuart Avenue – Closed from W. Northern Parkway to Rogers Avenue
  • Rogers Avenue – One-way traffic westbound from Winner Avenue to Park Heights Avenue
  • Winner Avenue – One-way traffic northbound from Hayward Avenue to W. Northern Parkway

Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 5:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

  • Westbound Northern Parkway – Right lane closure from Falls Road to W. Rogers Avenue
  • Westbound Northern Parkway – Right lane closure from Greenspring Avenue to Pimlico Road
  • Westbound Northern Parkway – Left lane closure from Preakness Way to Pimlico Road
  • Eastbound Northern Parkway – Left lane closure from Park Heights Avenue to Greenspring Avenue
  • Northbound Park Heights Avenue – Left lane closure at Hayward Avenue
  • Southbound Park Heights Avenue – Left turn lane closure at Rogers Avenue

Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 6:00 a.m. to Sunday, May 19, 2024, at 1:00 a.m. or until clear

  • Southbound Jones Falls Expressway exit ramp to eastbound W. Northern Parkway will be closed.  Motorists will be redirected to the Cold Spring Lane exits.
  • Cylburn Avenue – Closed from W. Northern Parkway to Greenspring Avenue

Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

  • Hayward Avenue – One-way traffic eastbound from Park Heights Avenue to Winner Avenue

Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to Sunday, May 19, 2024, at 1:00 a.m. or until clear

  • The north & southbound Jones Falls Expressway exit ramps to westbound Northern Parkway will be closed.  Motorists will be redirected to the Cold Spring Lane exits.

Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until Sunday, May 19, 2024, at 1:00 a.m.

  • Pimlico Road – Closed from W. Northern Parkway to Ken Oak Avenue
  • Hayward Avenue – One-way traffic westbound from Winner Avenue to Park Heights Avenue
  • W. Rogers Avenue Closed from Pimlico Road to Greenspring Avenue

Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 7:00 p.m. to Sunday, May 19, 2024, at 1:00 a.m. or until clear:

  • Eastbound Northern Parkway – Right lane closure from Key Avenue to Pimlico Road

Patrons attending Preakness festivities are strongly urged to carpool or use public transportation.  Motorists that choose to drive to Pimlico Race Course should park at commercial lots and avoid parking in area neighborhoods.  All posted parking restrictions will be strictly enforced, and vehicles parked in violation will be ticketed and towed.  Vehicles that are relocated during the event will be taken to Cylburn Avenue just south of Northern Parkway.  Motorists with questions concerning the location of their vehicle should call 311.

Motorists traveling in northwest Baltimore on Saturday, May 18th may experience delays throughout the day and are encouraged to download the Waze.com app for live detour navigation.  

 

Traffic Modifications for Weekend Activities

This weekend, temporary road closures will be in effect for various activities.

On Saturday, May 18, 2024, the following road closures will be implemented (times approximate):

  • Wolfe Street closed between McElderry and Jefferson Streets from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (crane operation)
  • Lombard Street closed between Penn Street and Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (crane operation)
  • O’Donnell Street closed between S. Streeper Street and S. Linwood Avenue from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (crane operation)
  • Washington Place closed between Mt. Vernon Place and E. Madison Street from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (crane operation)

On Sunday, May 19, 2024, the following lane closures will be implemented (times approximate):

  • Jones Falls Expressway/I-83 northbound and southbound left lane closures between Fayette Street and the city/county line 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (cleaning activities)

Motorists traveling in these vicinities should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes. 

 

Traffic Modifications for the Baltimore Farmers' Market

This Sunday, traffic modifications will be in effect for the Baltimore Farmers' Market, which is held under the Jones Falls Expressway along Saratoga Street between Holliday and Gay Streets.

On Sunday, May 19, 2024, the following street and lane closures will be implemented from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with parking restrictions in effect:

  • Holliday Street closed from E. Pleasant Street to E. Saratoga Street
  • Pleasant Street closed at Holliday Street
  • Hillen Street center lane closure between Front Street and Fallsway

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
