Weekend Road Closures for Friday, September 27th through Sunday, September 29th, 2024

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians of temporary road closures and traffic modifications for the following activities this weekend.

Traffic Modifications for the Baltimore Book Festival

This weekend, traffic modifications will be in effect for the Baltimore Book Festival Friday 9/27 from 12:00 a.m. until Sunday 9/29 11:59 p.m.  In preparation for this event, the following road closures will be implemented:

  • E. 32nd St, between Greenmount Ave and Barclay St.
  • Brentwood Ave, between E. 31st St and Merryman La.
  • E. 31st St, between Greenmount Ave and Barclay St.
  • E. 30th St, between Greenmount Ave and Barclay St.

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid possible delays. 

Traffic Modifications for the 22nd Annual Pigtown Festival

This weekend, traffic modifications will be in effect for the 22nd Annual Pigtown Festival from Friday 9/27 6:00 p.m. until Saturday 9/28 10:00 p.m. In preparation for this event, the following road closures will be implemented:

  • Washington Blvd, between W. Barre St and W. Cross St.
  • Scott St, between Ramsay St and Carroll St.

Traffic Modifications for Weekend Activities 

This weekend, temporary ramp, road, and lane closures will be in effect for various activities. On Saturday, September 28, 2024, the following road, ramp, and lane closures will be implemented (times approximate):

  • Southbound I-83 right lane closure between Guilford Ave and Ramp for graffiti removal between 5:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. 
  • Westbound Cold Spring La right lane closure between Tamarind Rd and Greenspring Ave from 5:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. 
  • Northbound Hilton Pkwy right lane closure between Edmondson Ave and North Ave from 5:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. 
  • Southbound Hilton Pkwy right lane closure between North Ave and Edmondson Ave from 5:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Motorists traveling in these vicinities should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.  

Family Fun Festival

This Saturday traffic modifications will be in effect for the Family Fun Festival from 9/28 11:00 a.m. until Sunday 10:00 a.m.  In preparation for this event, the following road closure will be implemented: 

  • N. Charles St, between Mt Royal Ave and Lanvale St.

Jonestown Community Day

This Saturday traffic modifications will be in effect for the Jonestown Community Day from 9/28 10:00 a.m. until Sunday 6:00 p.m.  In preparation for this event, the following road closure will be implemented: 

  • Aisquith St, between E. Baltimore St and E. Fayette St.

Traffic Modifications for the 16th Annual Race for Independence 5K

This Saturday, traffic modifications will be in effect for the 16th Annual Race for Independence 5K from September 28th 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. The Following Street will be closed on Saturday, September, from 6:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with Parking Restrictions in effect from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.:

  • Gorsuch Ave, between Ellerslie Ave and Independence St.

RACE ROUTE:

Baltimore City Police & Traffic Enforcement Officers will be stationed along the route to help facilitate the movement of traffic.

Race will start on Gorsuch Ave in front of Marian House driveway, just east of #937.Head east on Gorsuch Ave, cross over Independence St, continue east to Loch Raven Blvd. turn left on Loch Raven Blvd, turn right on E. 33rd St, continue on E. 33rd St until Whitman Dr at Lake Montebello. Turn right on Curran Dr, continue on Curran Dr (Northeast) until marked turnaround point.

After turnaround run opposite direction on Curran Dr (Southwest) until Whitman Dr. Head southwest on Whitman Dr and return back to E. 33rd St. Turn right onto E. 33rd St and continue West until Ellerslie Ave. turn left onto Ellerslie Ave and then left onto Gorsuch to return to race finish point (same as start point).

Motorists should be advised that temporary traffic stops may be implemented during the race for the safety of participants.

Traffic Modifications for the Baltimore Farmers' Market

This Sunday, traffic modifications will be in effect for the Baltimore Farmers' Market, which is held under the Jones Falls Expressway along Saratoga Street between Holliday and Gay Streets.

On Sunday, September 29, 2024, the following street and lane closures will be implemented from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with parking restrictions in effect:

  • Holliday Street from Pleasant Street to Saratoga Street 
  • Pleasant Street at Holliday Street - road closure for traffic traveling south.
  • Hillen Street at Fallsway - center lane closure for traffic traveling south.

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

Baltimore Ravens Football Game 

This Sunday the following traffic modifications will be in place for the Baltimore Ravens Game. Road closures will be implemented for the surrounding area streets and lanes from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.: 

  • Hamburg and Russell Streets.
