Traffic Modifications for the 2023 Veterans Day Parade

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists of the street closures and parking restrictions in effect for the 2023 Veterans Day Parade. The parade will be held on Friday, November 10th, 2023 beginning at 12:00 noon, rain or shine.   

The parade will begin at the intersection of Charles and Centre Streets. Participants will proceed south on Charles Street, left on Baltimore Street and left onto Gay Street to disband at E. Lexington Street near War Memorial Plaza.

In preparation for the event, the following streets will be closed to through traffic on Friday, November 10, 2023 at approximately 9:00 a.m. with detours and parking restrictions in effect:

  • Mt. Vernon Place from Cathedral Street to St. Paul Street
  • Charles Street from Baltimore Street to Madison Street
  • Centre Street from Park Avenue to St. Paul Street
  • Lexington Street from Charles Street to St. Paul Street
  • Lexington Street from Guilford Avenue to Gay Street.
  • Holliday Street from Saratoga Street to Lexington Street
  • Holliday Street from Fayette Street to Baltimore Street
  • Commerce Street from Baltimore Street to Water Street
  • Baltimore Street from Charels Street to Gay Street
  • Gay Street from Pratt Street to Lexington Street

The following parking restrictions will be implemented on Friday, November 10, 2023 from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.:

  • Mt. Vernon Place from Cathedral Street to St. Paul Street (east bound travel only)
  • Charles Street from Baltimore Street to Madison Street (both sides)
  • Centre Street, from Park Avenue to St. Paul Street (south side)
  • Lexington Street from Charles Street to St. Paul Street (south side)
  • Lexington Street from Guilford Avenue to Gay Street (both sides)
  • Gay Street from Pratt Street to Lexington Street (both sides)
  • Fayette Street from Gay Street to Holliday Street (both sides)
  • Holliday Street from Lexington Street to Saratoga Street (both sides)
  • Holliday Street, from Fayette Street to Baltimore Street (both sides)
  • Commerce Street, from Baltimore Street to Water Street (both sides)

Citizens attending the parade are encouraged to arrive early and use public parking facilities in the surrounding areas.  All posted parking restrictions will be strictly enforced and vehicles parked in violation will be ticketed and towed.

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be advised that temporary traffic stops will be implemented for the safety of parade participantsTransportation Enforcement Officers will be deployed in the area to facilitate the movement of traffic.  Commuters should expect delays and are strongly encouraged to use alternate routes.  Motorists are encouraged to download the Waze.com app for live detour navigation. 

Charm City Circulator service alert – Due to the road closures for the parade, the Charm City Circulator’s Purple and Green Routes will be operating with the following detours in effect on Friday, November 10, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

  • Purple Route:
    Northbound buses will proceed north on Calvert Street, turn left on Madison Street and then right on Charles Street to continue its normal route.
    Stops affected include #303 Redwood Street (northbound), #304 Charles Street and Fayette Street (northbound), #305 Pleasant Street (northbound), #306 Hamilton Street (northbound) and #307 Washington Monument (northbound).
  • Green Route:
    Eastbound buses will stay straight on Guilford Avenue to South Street, turn left on Pratt Street, and right on President Street to continue its normal route.
    Stops affected include #114 Gay Street (eastbound), #115 Market Place (eastbound) and #116 Lombard Street (eastbound).
