Weekend Road Closures for Friday, September 29 Through Sunday, October 1, 2023

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists of the temporary road closures and traffic modifications for the following activities this weekend.  Please download the Waze.com app for live detour navigation.  All activities are weather permitting and BCDOT is not responsible for providing status updates.

Traffic Modifications for Weekend Baltimore Orioles Home Games

This weekend, temporary traffic modifications will be in effect for Baltimore Orioles home games against the Boston Red Sox at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

In preparation for Friday’s game, the following streets will be closed on Friday, September 29, 2023 starting at approximately 4:00 p.m.:

  • Eutaw Street from Pratt to Camden Streets
  • Camden Street from Howard to Russell Streets
  • Hamburg Street from Russell to Leadenhall Streets

In addition, the following parking restrictions will be implemented on Friday, September 29, 2023 beginning at 4:00 p.m.:

  • East side of Eutaw Street from Pratt to Lombard Streets
  • North side of Conway Street from Charles to Sharp Streets
  • East side of Greene Street, from Lombard Street to Washington Boulevard
  • North side of Pratt Street, from Greene Street to Paca Street

The road closures and parking restrictions listed above will also be implemented on Saturday, September 30th at approximately 4:00 p.m. and Sunday, October 1st at approximately 12:00 p.m. 

Transportation Enforcement Officers will be stationed at key intersections to assist with the movement of traffic in the downtown area.  Motorists traveling in the vicinity of the stadium should be on the watch for pedestrians, especially when approaching designated crosswalks. 

 

Traffic Modifications for the Pigtown Festival

This Saturday, traffic modifications will be in effect for the 21st annual Pigtown Festival which will be held along Washington Boulevard.

In preparation for the event, the following roads will be closed from 12:00 p.m. on Friday, September 29, 2023 through 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2023 with detours and parking restrictions in effect:

  • Washington Boulevard closed between W. Barre and W. Cross Streets
  • Scott Street closed between Ramsey and Eislen Streets

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

Traffic Modifications for the Marian House Race to Embrace Independence 5K

This Saturday, temporary lane closures will be in effect for the 15th annual Marion House Race to Embrace Independence 5K Run and Walk.  The event will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. 

Participants will begin the race at the Marion House located at 949 Gorsuch Avenue.  Runners will turn left on Loch Raven Boulevard, right on E. 33rd Street, right on Curran Drive to the turn-around point and follow Curran Drive back to E. 33rd Street.  Runners will turn left onto Ellerslie Avenue and then left onto Gorsuch Avenue to finish at the Marion House.

During the event, the following streets will be impacted on Saturday September 30th starting at approximately 8:30 a.m.:

- Gorsuch Avenue from Ellerslie Avenue to Loch Raven Boulevard
- Loch Raven Boulevard from Gorsuch Avenue to E. 33rd Street
- 33rd Street from Loch Raven Boulevard to Whitman Drive
- Whitman Drive from E. 33rd Street to Curran Drive

In addition, one lane of travel will be coned off for participants along the race route wherever possible.  Commuters should be aware that temporary traffic stops will be implemented for the safety of participants.  Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for pedestrians and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

Traffic Modifications for Cleaning Activities and Crane Operations

This weekend, temporary lane and road closures will be in effect for cleaning activities and crane operations.  

On Saturday, September 30, 2023, the following lane and road closures will be implemented:

  • Jones Falls Expressway/I-83 southbound right lane closures from Northern Parkway to Falls Road 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (cleaning activities)
  • Jones Falls Expressway/I-83 southbound Cold Spring Lane ramp closures 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (cleaning activities)
  • MD 295 north and southbound left lane closures from Hamburg Street to the city line 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (cleaning activities)
  • Madison Street closure between Rutland Avenue and Broadway 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (crane operation)
  • Fayette Street closure between N. Fremont Avenue and Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (crane operation)
  • Greene Street closure between Lexington and Fayette Streets 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (crane operation)

On Sunday, October 1, 2023, the following lane closures will be implemented:

  • Jones Falls Expressway/I-83 north and southbound left lane closures from Fayette Street to the city/county line 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (cleaning activities)
  • Hilton Parkway north and southbound right lane closures between North Avenue and Hilton Street 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (cleaning activities)

Motorists traveling in these vicinities should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

Traffic Modifications for the Baltimore Farmers' Market & Bazaar

This Sunday, traffic modifications will be in effect for the Baltimore Farmers' Market & Bazaar, which is held under the Jones Falls Expressway along Saratoga Street between Holliday and Gay Streets.

On Sunday, October 1, 2023 the following street and lane closures will be implemented from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with detours in effect:

  • Holliday Street closed from Pleasant Street to Saratoga Street
  • Pleasant Street closed at Holliday Street
  • Hillen Street center lane closure at Fallsway

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

Traffic Modifications for the Sowebo Landmark 5K Race

This Sunday, temporary road and lane closures will be implemented for the 12th annual Sowebo Landmark 5K Footrace which kicks off from Union Square Park at 9:00 a.m.

The race will start along Hollins Street at the intersection of Stricker Street. Participants will proceed east on Hollins Street, right on Schroeder Street, left on Lemon Street, right on Poppleton Street and right on Pratt Street.  The race proceeds left through the B & O Railroad Museum Service Entrance and through the museum grounds to exit left onto Arlington Street.  The course continues across the railroad tracks and right onto James Street.  Participants will then turn left on Bayard Street to enter Carroll Park at the Washington Boulevard entrance and follow marked trails in the park up to the Mount Clare Mansion.  Runners will exit the park by turning right on Bayard Street, then left on James Street, left on Arlington Avenue, and left onto Hollins Street to finish at the HL Mencken House.

In preparation for the event, the following road closures will be implemented on Sunday, October 1, 2023 from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.:

  • Gilmore Street – Lombard Street to Hollins Street (Registration)
  • Hollins Street – Gilmore Street to Stricker Street (Formation)

In addition, one lane of traffic will be closed for the runners along the race route where possible.  Commuters should be aware that temporary traffic stops may be implemented during the race for the safety of participants.  Motorists traveling in this vicinity are encouraged to watch for pedestrians and use alternate routes.
