Traffic Modifications for the Annual Lighting of the Washington Monument

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists of the temporary road closures that will be implemented for the annual lighting of the Washington Monument.  The event will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in historic Mount Vernon.

In preparation for the event, the following streets will be closed to through traffic with detours and parking restrictions in effect:

  • West Mt. Vernon Place from N. Charles to Cathedral Streets – 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 through 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2019
  • East Mt. Vernon Place from N. Charles to St. Paul Streets – Thursday, December 5, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.
  • N. Charles Street from Centre to Madison Streets – Thursday, December 5, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for pedestrians attending the event and are strongly encouraged to use alternate routes.
