Heavy Traffic Expected in Vicinity of Morgan State University on Wednesday

Public viewing of Congressman Elijah Cummings begins at 10:00 a.m.; Heavy traffic also expected Friday in vicinity of New Psalmist Baptist Church

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists that heavy traffic conditions are expected in the vicinity of Morgan State University on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 for the public viewing of Congressman Elijah Cummings. 

The public viewing will be held at the Murphy Fine Arts Center on Argonne Drive from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., followed by a public tribute service from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  Roadways surrounding Morgan State University will be significantly impacted by this event, including:

  • Hillen Road
  • E. Coldspring Lane
  • Argonne Drive
  • Stadium Drive

Heavy traffic conditions are expected in this vicinity throughout the day and evening hours.  Motorists should allow additional commute time if traveling in this area and are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid delays. 

In addition, heavy traffic is also expected on Friday, October 25, 2019 in the vicinity of New Psalmist Baptist Church for Congressman Cummings’ funeral service.  A public viewing will be held at the church, located along Marian Drive in west Baltimore from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service.

Roadways in the vicinity of the church will be impacted on Friday, including:

  • Marian Drive
  • Mount Hope Drive
  • Metro Drive
  • West Northern Parkway
  • Wabash Avenue
  • Liberty Road
  • Liberty Heights Avenue
  • Seton Drive

Heavy traffic conditions are expected in this vicinity throughout the day and motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid delays.
