Portion of Howard Street Now Closed With Detours in Effect

Roadway will remain closed until repairs are completed

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists that the intersection of N. Howard and W. Lexington Streets is now closed due to a void under the roadway.

At this time, N. Howard Street is closed to through traffic between Fayette and Saratoga Streets with detours in effect.  In addition, W. Lexington Street is now closed between Eutaw Street and Park Avenue.

Crews are working to investigate the cause of the void by checking underground utilities, and it is unclear at this time how long these roadways will remain closed.  Operations along the MDOT MTA Light RailLink line along Howard Street will be affected.  Citizens with questions regarding the Light RailLinkservice should visit www.mta.maryland.gov or call 410.539.5000.

Motorists traveling in this vicinity are encouraged to use alternate routes away from the closure area to avoid congestion and delays.

Suggested Detour Routes:

·        Northbound Howard Street traffic will be detoured left on Fayette Street, right on Eutaw Street, right on Saratoga Street back to Howard Street.

·        Westbound Lexington Street traffic will be detoured right on Park Avenue, left on  Saratoga Street, left on Eutaw Street back to Lexington Street.

·        Eastbound Lexington Street traffic will be detoured left on Eutaw Street, right on Saratoga Street, right on Liberty Street back to Lexington Street.
